WELCOME

This is a collection of projects that I completed during the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program at Michigan State University from August 2021 through April 2024. These projects are separated into examples of my writing on topics of learning, training, and teaching and projects showing how I've applied theories and learnings from my courses to real-life applications. The writing on various topics demonstrates how I communicate my values backed up by theory. The projects show how I apply learning theory to my career.

Writing

Below, you will find examples of my writing on topics including adult learning, learning theory, the design process and how these topics are applicable in life and work. These examples of my writing demonstrate my skill in written communication, synthesizing information, utilizing citations to strengthen a point, and show how I am able to apply my learnings to my career.

Projects

Below, you will find examples of projects that demonstrate my ability to apply my learning from the MAET program to real-life examples applicable to my career. These projects show my ability to think critically about a problem and utilize research to identify, implement, and analyze strategic solutions to problems.

Applying Adult Learning Theory in Practice

My thoughts on how I will apply adult learning theories to my work. This demonstrates my writing skills and understanding of adult learning theory.

Project Plan - Improving Communication

This project plan demonstrates my ability to test a hypothesis for a policy or process improvement. The improvement here is streamlining company communication through consolidating teams into the same communication platform.

Empathy and the Design Process

My thoughts on why empathy is so crucial in the design process, work, and life. This demonstrates my writing skills and understanding of the Stanford Design Process and how it applies to work and life.

Expert versus Novice

This project shows my understanding of learning theory and how I can present information visually so it can be used in a professional development context for managers learning to coach and train employees.

Online Training Manifesto

My thoughts on training work skills online. This demonstrates my writing skills and expertise in designing effective online training programs.

Solving a Problem Of Practice

This project shows my expertise in identifying and solving a Problem of Practice (PoP), in this case, the need for strategic skill set training in new managers, utilizing the Stanford Design Process.

Personal Theory of Learning

My thoughts on how learning occurs. This demonstrates my writing ability and my application of learning theories to my own personal learning theory.

Culture of Feedback Survey Analysis

This project shows my ability to identify a problem of practice, in this case employee satisfaction with goal setting, feedback, and performance appraisals, survey those it impacts, and make a recommendation to improve the problem.
